There are so many reasons for seeking therapy. Yours are your own. Whether you are new to therapy or have had previous experiences with it, I commend you for taking this first, big step of seeking out a therapist who feels like a good fit for you.

Finding the words to speak your truth in the presence of an attuned, empathic, and non-judgmental other is a vulnerable yet powerful experience. This is the core of talk therapy. As a relational psychotherapist, I focus primarily on how your relationships, both past and present, have shaped your sense of self and created the blueprints for the ways that you connect (or don’t) with others. I work from the fundamental understanding that past and present are inextricably linked, and we will attend to both in your therapy in addition to any goals or vision you have for your future. From a place of open curiosity, we may notice connections, identify patterns, and listen closely to all the feelings that come up along the way.

I aim to create a space that balances warmth and validation with directness and accountability. Personal growth happens in the sweet spot just beyond our comfort zones. Looking inward can evoke a discomfort that, when tolerable, can inspire change in our stuck patterns and help shift perspectives that no longer serve us. Our emotions, including the more difficult ones, can be full of important information to help better understand ourselves.

One of my main goals in our work together will be to understand, as much as I possibly can, whether our identities and life experiences align or diverge ~ what it’s like for you to be you in this world. I value our individual positions within systems of oppression, power, and identity as important aspects of how our lives are shaped, how we perceive and are perceived by others, and the freedom with which we move through the world.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or stuck. I work with individuals and couples of all ages and walks of life with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Relationship challenges, Bipolar Disorder (BD), Neurodiversity, Depression, Sex & Intimacy issues, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Grief, and Trauma.  My approach to working with your issues or diagnoses is to work with your understanding of your situation, what this means to you, and how you live with it. I strive to make sessions an open, collaborative, and conversational space where you can show up however you’re feeling, and wherever you’re at, no performance necessary. And then we go from there.

Couples often reach out to me feeling stuck in the same arguments, disconnected, or unsure how to find their way back to each other after hurt or miscommunication. I support couples who are struggling with communication, emotional distance, sexual issues, polyamory, recurring conflict, or mismatched needs. I work with partners navigating ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD to better understand differences in communication styles, sensory needs, emotional regulation, and expectations that can create tension. I also have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and offer a space where all identities and relationship structures are welcomed and respected. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, helping you slow things down, understand each other more clearly, and build healthier patterns for connection, intimacy, and more ease and enjoyment together!

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches based on your needs including: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy; Self Psychology; Attachment Theory; Relational Psychoanalysis; Somatic Therapies; Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy For Couples (EFT), Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy PACT); Relational Life Therapy (RLT); Tammy Nelson’s Sex & Intimacy work; Neurobiology; and Mindfulness Therapy among others.

Whether you start with a free consultation or book a first session, I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you as you begin this work.

Questions You May Have

It’s common to come to therapy with questions. Here are answers to some of the most frequent ones I hear.

You won’t have to spend your time explaining. I have specific training and experience working with 2SLGBTQ+ and ENM couples, which means I’m starting from the assumption that your relationship is valid. The work we do together will focus on what you actually came to address, not on bringing me up to speed on the basics.

It means I take seriously that the struggles people bring into therapy don’t exist in a vacuum. Systems of racism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and other forms of oppression shape people’s lives in real and specific ways, and those things belong in the room. I’m not going to treat your experience as a purely individual problem if it’s connected to something much larger. That context isn’t an excuse or a distraction from the work. It is the work.

Yes, and it goes beyond affirming. As a queer therapist myself, I bring lived experience to this work. Your identity isn’t something we treat as a problem to solve, it’s part of your story and we hold it with care. Whether you’re exploring your identity, navigating coming out, or just exhausted from existing in spaces that weren’t built for you, this is a space where you don’t have to explain the basics.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. My training was an intensive four year psychotherapy training program at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy (TIRP). In addition I engage in ongoing professional development and supervision in the modern and evidence based therapy modalities such as Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFCT), EMDR, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, Attachment Based therapy, Relational Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.

It means we don’t just look at your struggles as personal failings. We examine how larger systems of patriarchy, capitalism, impossible professional standards create the anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt you’re experiencing. For example, if you’re a woman in leadership feeling like you’re never “enough,” we look at how those standards were built to be impossible. It’s not about blaming systems instead of taking responsibility, it’s about understanding what you’re up against so you can stop blaming yourself for struggling under conditions designed to break you.

A Registered Social Worker (RSW) is a regulated mental health professional trained to provide individual therapy, family support, and community-based care. My MSW is a graduate-level clinical degree. The main practical difference for most clients is fee structure and insurance coverage — many extended health plans cover RSW services, but it’s worth checking your specific plan.
