Welcome! I’m Tyler, Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) and post graduate training in individual, couples, and sex therapy. Finding a therapist that you can connect with is critical to getting the support you are looking for. At the heart of my work is a client-centred approach which emphasizes respect, compassion, and authenticity. My work integrates the importance of how culture, race, sexual orientation, and gender expression may influence you and your life. No two circumstances are the same, so together we can explore how your unique lived experience shapes your emotional reality.

I support individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of concerns related to relationships, communication, emotional and sexual intimacy, self esteem, depression, life transitions, bereavement, trauma, and anxiety. I have a special interest in working with couples, neurodiversity, 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, immigrants, and high performance sports. My therapeutic approach with individuals integrates a mixture of relational, psychodynamic, emotion focused, attachment based, internal family systems, body based awareness practices, mindfulness therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and narrative therapy.

With couples, my work is informed by the Couples Institute Developmental Model, Gottman Method, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), Assessing and Treating Sexual Issues in Psychotherapy (ATSIP), and Tammy Nelson’s certification in Sex Therapy. Couples therapy can help you communicate more effectively, understand yourself and partner on deeper levels, resolve conflict in healthier ways, enhance emotional & physical intimacy, tackle decisions or life transitions, navigate polyamory, manage grief or loss, and create a shared vision for your future.

I work collaboratively with you to help with a range of individual or relationship issues using evidence based therapeutic approaches. With an understanding of attachment, trauma and neuroscience, I will support & guide you to explore, grow, and heal, helping you make sense of your lived experience, identify areas for growth and reach goals that are important to you. I look forward to the possibility of working together!

In my personal time I focus on family, relaxation, and surrounding myself with things that allow me to find a place of meaning and peace in my life. I enjoy the outdoors and can be found fishing, kayaking, playing and coaching sports, and spending time with my child and partner.

Questions You May Have

It’s common to come to therapy with questions. Here are answers to some of the most frequent ones I hear.

Yes. Many couples come in not because they don’t love each other, but because they’re stuck in a pattern, the same fight, different day. Therapy helps you understand what’s actually driving the conflict (it’s rarely what it looks like on the surface) and build communication tools that work in real life, not just in a session. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. If you feel unheard, disconnected, or like you’re walking on eggshells, that’s enough of a reason to reach out.
Premarital counselling is structured support for couples who are engaged or seriously considering marriage. It’s not about fixing problems, it’s about getting ahead of them. Sessions typically cover finances, family dynamics, conflict styles, values, and expectations around roles and parenting. Research consistently shows that couples who do premarital work report higher relationship satisfaction long-term. You don’t need to be struggling to benefit. In fact, the couples who get the most out of it are the ones who are doing well and want to stay that way.
Yes — and more people ask about this than you might think. Sexual concerns are one of the most common reasons couples quietly seek support, and one of the least talked about openly. Whether you’re navigating mismatched desire, recovering from an affair, dealing with the impact of a health condition, or simply feeling disconnected physically, a registered social worker with training in this area can help you have conversations that feel impossible to start on your own. Sessions are professional, non-judgmental, and at your pace.
Yes. The mental side of performance is as important as the physical, and therapy can be a meaningful part of an athlete’s overall support system. Common areas include performance anxiety, identity and self-worth tied to sport, navigating injury and recovery, burnout, transitions out of competitive sport, and relationships under the pressure of a demanding training schedule. Whether you’re a recreational athlete or competing at an elite level, these challenges are real and worth addressing.
Emotional connection is the feeling that your partner knows you, sees you, and is genuinely there for you — not just physically present. It tends to erode gradually, often without a single identifiable cause. Life gets busy, small moments of disconnection accumulate, and one day it feels like you’re living as roommates. The good news is that connection is rebuilable. Therapy helps couples identify when and how the distance grew, what each partner actually needs to feel close, and how to create those moments consistently — even in the middle of a full and c
Yes, and I hear this often. Therapy that didn’t fit isn’t evidence that therapy can’t help. It might mean the approach wasn’t right, the timing wasn’t right, or the space didn’t feel safe enough to go anywhere real. I work relationally, which means the connection between us matters as much as any technique. If something isn’t working, we talk about it and adjust. You set the pace.
Yes, many extended health benefit plans cover Registered Social Workers (MSW, RSW). I provide receipts that you can submit directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Individual therapy sessions are $175 and couples sessions are $250. I also offer a free 20 minute consultation so we can determine if we’re a good fit before you begin.
I have a Master of Social Work and am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. In addition, I have extensive couples therapy training including a certificate in Gottman Level I, training with Terry Real at Relational Life Therapy, ongoing supervision for the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, and ongoing professional development at the Institute for Relational Intimacy with Martha Kauppi who specializes in working with couples with issues related to sex and intimacy.
